About AMI

The Association of Microbiologists of India established in 1938 is one of the oldest and reputed scientific organizations of the country. Since its inception, it has contributed significantly towards development of microbiology, particularly in areas of research and teaching in country. At present, there are more than 5152 life and annual members and about 450 corporate members of the Association. The Association holds a National convention annually at one of the well established centers of microbiology in the country. The association has also publishes a quarterly journal, “Indian Journal of Microbiology” for the last 60 years . By publishing peer reviewed original research findings and research reviews from researchers in India and abroad, Indian Journal of Microbiology has attained a respectable status among National and International scientific research periodicals in the
world.

About University of Mysore

The University of Mysore was established on July 27, 1916. It is the sixth oldest University in the country and the first in the state of Karnataka. Also, it is the first University of the country to be established outside the limits of the British India. The University was founded as a result of the efforts of the benevolent and visionary Maharaja of erstwhile Princely State of Mysore His Highness Shri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar – IV (1884-1940), and the then Diwan Sir M. Visvesvaraya (1860-1962). It was the first University to be accredited by NAAC in 2000 with Five Star Status. The university is now ranked 27 in the India Rankings 2020, NIRF-MHRD, Government of India. The University is located in Mysuru, the cultural centre of Karnataka. Mysuru was the capital of the Wadiyar dynasty. It is a city of palaces, temples, and gardens. Being a splendid tourist centre with historical monuments and unique architecture, it is famous for silk, sandalwood oil and artifacts of ivory and sandalwood. About CSIR-CFTRI

CSIR−Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore (A constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi) came into existence during 1950 with the great vision of its founders, and a network of inspiring as well as dedicated scientists who had a fascination to pursue indepth research and development in the areas of food science and technology. Research focus of CSIR-CFTRI has been revolved around broadly into the following areas: Engineering Sciences, Technology Development, Translational Research, and Food Protection and Safety. Food Technology being inter-disciplinary in nature the mandate or vision of the Institute is fulfilled through various R&D Departments and Support Departments along with its Resource Centres at Hyderabad, Lucknow and Mumbai

About DRDO – DFRL

The Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) was established in December 1961 under the aegis of Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, New Delhi, to cater to the strategic operational requirements of our services and to provide logistical support to the Armed Forces in the area of food supplies. DFRL has core competence in convenience foods, food packaging as well as food analysis and quality control. DFRL has developed an array of food products /technologies to provide convenience, adequate nutrition and calories, apart from ensuring shelf-life and microbiology safety. Over the years, more than 560 technology transfers have been done to about 325 different entrepreneurs.

About KSTA

Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA) is an organisation under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Karnataka, which was established under the Chairmanship of distinguished space scientist Padma Vibhushan Late Prof. U R Rao, Former Chairman, ISRO / Secretary, Govt. of India. Presently, Prof. S Ayyappan, Former DG, ICAR/ Secretary, DARE, Govt. of India is the Chairman of KSTA. The Academy has 13 members comprising Eminent Scientists, well known Educationists and Senior Administrators. Major programs of KSTA includes: KSTA Annual Science and Technology Conference; S&T Conference in Kannada; Prof. C.N.R. Rao Lifetime Achievement Award in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture & Medicine); Lifetime Achievement Award in STEAM Communication in Kannada; Digital Content Generation; Certificate Courses; Quiz, Essay, Art & Science Modelling Competitions; Collaborative Programs with R&D Institutions, Special Lecture Series; Small Grants; bringing out Policy/Strategy/Status papers on important topics; Academy Fellowships and Membership etc.
